The book "Inside Daisy Clover" is set in mid-1950s Hollywood, when the film studios were starting to crumble and desperately seeking out new talent. Inside Daisy Clover is one of the darker, and more bluntly overbearing, rise to stardom tales in cinema. From the outset, everything, from the contrasted character colour schemes, to the mother, to the old Hollywood industry men that tend to stay in the shadows, is telling Daisy that hitting the big time is a very very bad idea, and that she will live to regret it.
